Local Fundraising Activities to make Dan's Den a Reality

In addition to the money awarded to us, church members and people from the local community got behind the venture by coming up with their own fundraising initiatives.

Edinburgh Woollen Mill Fashion Event

On April 15th 2015, Edinburgh Woollen Mill held a fashion show that was attended by over sixty people at Christchurch.

Volunteer models from the church and the shop showed off the latest designs from EWM in an event that raised over £200 for Dan’s Den.

Christchurch’s Wednesday Fellowship hosted the event, providing delicious cake and manning the doors.

Bradford Metropolitan Concert Band

On 20th December, the Bradford Metropolitan Concert Band played a special Christmas concert at Christchurch, in aid of Dan's Den. There was a guest performance by renowned soprano, Elizabeth Frankland and everyone had a lovely time.

"Dan's Den Dynamos"

On September 21st, Christchurch’s Ruth Jones, Christine Henney and Felicity Tomblin joined forces to become the “Dan’s Den Dynamos” and competed in the 22nd Ilkley Triathlon. The course comprised a 500m swim in the indoor pool (Felicity), followed by three bike laps (Ruth) and one run lap around a 3 mile circuit comprising Denton Road, Carter Lane, Curly Hill and Middleton Road (Christine). In doing so, they have raised £1,136 so far for Dan's Den. You can still support them by donating via their JustGiving page here.

Quiz Night

On Friday 3rd October we held a Quiz Night at Ben Rydding Pre-School. It was a great night (sold out!!) and over £550 was raised in the process.

Woodhouse Grove School Swing Band

On Wednesday 8th October, the multitalented musicians that make up the Woodhouse Grove School Swing Band did a fantastic performance at Christchurch, Ilkley. They played an upbeat selection of music from the 20th Century including lots of toe-tapping dance melodies and modern favourites.

For 3 days from October 30th until November 1st, Christchurch hosted a Jigsaw Festival where visitors were able to puruse and purchase jigsaws from the selection of hundreds of sets. 10% of the proceeds went to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Service and the rest to Dan's Den. We're delighted that over £2,000 was raised for the project.

“Disappearing Ilkley – a Generation of Change”

On Wednesday 12th November, Christchurch’s own Mr. Mike Dixon held the "World Premiere" of a presentation entitled “Disappearing Ilkley – a Generation of Change”. The event was a sell-out and Mike delivered an extremely interesting and very enlightening talk about Ilkley, now and then. The event also raised over £800 for Dan's Den, which we're delighted about.

Great North Swim

On June 14th, Ilkley mum Felicity Tomblin completed 1 mile swimming in Lake Windermere as part of the Great North Swim to raise funds for Dan’s Den. This is a remarkable achievement seeing as she was only a novice swimmer when she took on this challenge and it followed many weeks of swimming at Ilkley pool and dedicated training. We're delighted to announce that so far she has raised over £1,100.
